 
     Sarah Derris is a filmmaker, writer, and fashion professional based in Los Angeles (previously Brooklyn). Most recently, she was the North American Wholesale Account Executive for heritage French accessories brand, Roger Vivier, where she helped expand the North American wholesale business. She received her B.A. in Literature and Visual Media Studies from Duke University in 2021 and is currently pursuing her M.A. in Cinema and Media Studies at the University of Southern California.
Her creative work examines the potentialities and limitations of our nostalgia-steeped society. She has received several accolades for her past projects, including the Outstanding Filmmaker Award for her distinction film umrah (2021) and the Rodger Frey Film Essay Award for her thesis, "Umrah: Nostalgia and Devotional Practice in Film."
